Taylor Golden Gloves
Lawrence Olivarez initiated the boxing program in Taylor, which eventually transformed into the renowned Taylor Golden Gloves with the assistance of James Gage and the Neighborhood Center. Every Friday night, thrilling bouts took place at the O.L. Price/Eastside Gym, attracting a packed crowd in the bleachers. Boxers hailing from San Antonio, Austin, Fort Hood, Temple, and Waco would journey to Taylor for exhilarating boxing matches. Over time, the program expanded to include wrestling.
